I have over 5 years experience as an Internet marketing strategist, using social media marketing tools and traditional PR to help businesses build brand awareness, increase website sales, conversions and traffic and to improve overall online connectivity and Web presence. I have worked with corporate clients, small companies, government agencies, for the high-tech sector and for non-profit organizations, from Nike Inc. to the Make Poverty History campaign. Since 2011, my Web marketing business has focused in the wine and hospitality industries at Mallen Marketing.
I work in wine sales with Vintage West Wine Marketing Inc., a premium sales and marketing wine company in western Canada. I am completing the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Diploma level – the highest WSET certification, a top qualification in the wine and spirits industry and the pre-requisite to the Master of Wine. In 2007 I co-founded Canada’s first wine and technology conference, Vinocamp, and I have instructed WSET wine classes in Vancouver.
- – - - A little background:
I discovered the social Web when I “covertly” documented my experiences working for CBC TV at the Torino Olympic Games in Italy. Connecting with people online and growing a small community from nothing at the time, using this blog, Flickr and YouTube was how it began. Read more about my work in social Web marketing community here. Prior to Internet marketing, I was a graphic and web designer and spent several years working in radio and television.
In wine, I was fortunate to grow up with and learn to appreciate fine wines from France and Italy at an early age, thanks to my mother. I started my first “cellar” of 12 wines at age 19, all of which were stored above the refrigerator and “accidentally” consumed at a college party. I have since improved these matters greatly.
